Kuching, 23 June 2024 - Sime Darby Rent-A-Car (SDRAC) – Hertz Malaysia, in collaboration with Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD), recently conducted a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, "Program CSR Hari Gawai: Sumbangan Asas," in Kampung Siol Kandis, Petrajaya Kuching, Sarawak. This initiative marks Hertz Malaysia's first CSR Huluran Kasih program, aimed at supporting the local community during the festive period.
The distribution and handover of assistance took place with the esteemed presence of Yang Berbahagia, Encik Syed Mohd. Zahiruddin B. Wan Yusof, representing the office of the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier Department for Law, MA63 & Federal-State Relations, Wisma Bapa Malaysia. His attendance underscored the significance of the program and the commitment of local authorities to community welfare.
SDRAC are immensely proud to finally execute their first CSR collaboration with Yayasan Sime Darby in Kuching, Sarawak. This program is incredibly meaningful to SDRAC as it is part of their social responsibility to give back to the community in Sarawak.

Harun Mohd Joned, Managing Director of Sime Darby Rent-A-Car, remarked, "This CSR initiative with our collaboration with YSD at Kampung Siol Kandis is just the beginning of our long-term commitment to support the communities where we operate. We believe in giving back and making a positive impact, especially during times of celebration like Hari Gawai. We look forward to continuing our support with more community development programs."
Amongst the items distributed were food and essential items, along with cash vouchers, aimed at providing much-needed relief to the families in need. This assistance is especially crucial during Hari Gawai, a time of celebration and cultural significance for the community. The initiative benefited 65 households, including 44 elderly and disabled individuals and 22 underprivileged families, including single parents. The total value of the contribution amounted to RM11,000.
Encik Syed Mohd. Zahiruddin B. Wan Yusof, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, stating, "This generous contribution by Sime Darby Rent-A-Car and Yayasan Sime Darby is a testament to their commitment to the well-being of our community. It is heartening to see such collaborative efforts that bring immediate relief and joy to the lives of those in need.”
